Saw a funny TV ad the other day,       
Difficulties, with dread contemplated.
Stumped, “Easy Button” came into play,
With magic solution to work they hated.

Yes, humans will take the easy path,
Want riches without working for same,
Buy lottery, eschewing logic of math,
Cheat for points regardless of game.

Rules are set by nature and society —
Followed, work for the entire whole.
But there’s an easy button for piety,
And escaping death is another’s role.

Yes, silly as it sounds to say aloud,
There’s a button to heaven conjure,
One to transport souls to a cloud,
To eternally soak in pleasure du jour.

Occurs to me, as easy buttons conquer,
Reality won’t so nicely deliver a plum,
‘Spite of fervent wishes au contraire,
Life’s sweet spot is adversity overcome.

And when bell of death for us does peal,
Will an easy button reality improve?
Can a button make life’s end less real,
Can spirit sans body, truly move?

There’s no proof it’s ever been done,
Minus imagination’s clever windings.
Hark! Life’s grand prize is easiest won
By value added to human findings,
That enables our people, race to run,
In a universe with physical bindings.
