(This poem was prematurely removed from the Poetry list, so I am re-posting it.) Imagine a dark blue sedan burrowing westward on an Interstate highway into a darkening landscape at seventy miles an hour. It meets a giant thunderstorm rolling eastward at thirty miles an hour. Vast wings of roll clouds stretch from north to south horizons. Its roar and crackle, at first faintly heard in the car, is low like Seline Dion�s voice that trills and warbles from the CD player. Punctuated crashes of lightning, thunder and wind blasts grow louder and compete at a high decibel level as Celine moves into gear and belts out her beautiful rendition of �Power of Love.� Chills on my spine! I grip the wheel, lean forward and peer into the faintly illuminated blackness. I sing along, competing loudly with song and storm. The song plays for five minutes and 43 seconds. We break through the storm and the song ends, leaving only reverberating echoes. Here are the echoes.
The Power of *Storm* Whispers in the *evening* *Of your super cell might,* Are rolling like thunder now As I look into your eyes. *Purple over green now,* *Sparkling iridescence flies.* I *lock* on to your body And feel each move you make. Your voice is *wild and strong, Siren song* I cannot forsake. �Cause I�m your *fluff now,* And you are my *Storm. Whenever you reach for me I�ll do all that I can. I�m ready to move* *Forward, not back,* *Fearful the next blast* *Of your breath, my last!* Lost is how I�m feeling, *Hammered by your squall.* The world outside�s Too much to take, *Could end here with you!* Even though there were times *You* seemed so far away, *I wonder why here I am* *So small in your wide wings.* I�m heading for something, Somewhere I�ve never been. Sometimes I am frightened, But I�m ready to learn Of the power of *Storm.* The sound of your heart beating Made it clear suddenly The feeling that I can�t go on Is light years away! �Cause I�m your *fluff now,* And you are my *Storm. Whenever you reach for me I�ll do all that I can. I�m ready to move* *Forward, not back,* *Afraid the next blast* *Of your breath, my last!* I�m heading for something, Somewhere I�ve never been. Liked the poem, but LOVED the intro!

I've gotta go with Ted on this one, though: 5 minutes and 43 seconds of Celine is punishment enough. {wink}
