Leland, I'm with Ed on this one: 'any life form pay'.. but ~sigh~ I loved them all! You know what I love about your poems?... WOW what a 'thinker' this makes me this early morn. I loved it. Perhaps we could choose a looong third line which might go something like this; "no policy takes moral high ground if it makes, forests and wetlands disappear which causes species reduction, disappearing streams and lakes, water polution; thereby killing most fish, and we humans will become so miserable and we will have nothing to do but have more sex which will cause the population to grow and make human birth rates rise then there will be more people on earth which will make energy more scarce; thereby causing global warming, then life on earth will vanish and all life forms will pay."

Leland, you present some very tough choices here. They're all very good. But since I'm an animal 'nut' I'd have to say, species reduction. Or, how about 'any life form pay.'

"Human birth rate rise" is the most suitable one.

"Theme Haiku: Ecology" is a title calling for ecology, but the theme is "policy and moral".

How about this third line......"life on Earth vanish".......Great poetic expression Leland AND nice challenge too.
