I wrote this poem for a very good friend who was having a difficult time in her marriage...I awoke one night with the words and wrote them down, read them to her the next day...she wept and asked how did I know? I told her that is was because we were kindred spirits...and sisters in Christ.
The Secret
This secret that I shelter deep in my heart,
for fear and pain I will cling and never depart.
I remember the day, the hour when,
this unspoken secret entered in.
To unclutch now, nothing would I gain.
Lonely and confused I hide all the pain.
But one day a light will filter through...
I will let go of this secret...
and live my life anew.
For now I will keep it safe in my heart,
and live for the day...
for myself a brand new start.
It's funny, we just had a Impromptu Speech competition last Thursday in Toastmaster Club and I was one of the judges. The title for the contestants was "Secret", and each of them had to speak about "Secrets" for 2 minutes on the spot. Most of them did really well.
