I went to visit and pray with a friends husband who is terminally ill, and my mind began to reflect upon the days when not one or two but many would gather to pray for the sick. I have witnessed several miracles as a result of prayer and obedience...my daughter was healed of a bone disease that left many physicians at Shriners hospital in awe, they admitted only God could perform such a miracle. Prayer does change things!
This was a great retrospective of a powerful time spiritually on this planet, and in this country.
I remember stories of the Azusa Street Revival spreading out like an oil slick, and all the marvelous things God did through His people during that time.
When I was young I saw blind eyes opened, people getting out of wheelchairs and walking, diseases cured etc. etc. All night prayer meetings, people going to the sicks houses and interceding and laying on hands.
Now most of what you see is two or three passings of the plate for more money.
There is no doubt in my mind in the power of prayer in healing, Joyce. When my son Matt was near death and in a coma for so long, the prayer chain was staggering and with the beauty of e-mail and the internet, it reached around the world. He's living proof of prayer's incredible healing power. Believe in His miracles, they do happen!

Today, not only do we not pray for the sick, we don't pray at all. Communism condemned religion as the opium of the people, modern times went one better, religion is for the weak, it is not needed. So why pray? Incredible that we fought a war to eradicate evil and then allowed evil to enter in ous ourselves. But I'm hopeful for there is still much prayer in the world. Great poem. Victor
