The imagery in this created a great picture in my mind...I echo Victor's comments here Joyce...we find the greatest pleasures from the simple, uncomplicated things in life. Very touching write. Panda :)
Once again silent by the creek I sat…
listening to the footsteps in my mind…
the footsteps of these mountains,
that I have come to love…
slowly there fading it is sad to say,
much as the peaceful flowing water…
Slowly wearing the stones away.
... totally delightful, Joyce, and your heart is penned through every word. So very visual,too... and cinematic. You have created a tremendous ache and a yearning for such a blessed and rarefied environment. The air in the mountains you speak of here must be good enough to live upon, feeding mind, body and soul. Wonderful indeed! TY K xx
You have such a gift in this memories-of-the-past-genre...I believe you could write for some of those kinds of magazines!
I love the ending, too '..the peaceful flowing water...Slowly wearing the stones away.' It's like Christ's living water that flows over us..until we fade away.....to The Rock! :)
Joyce, you have a gift of making the scenes appear as we read about them. What a beautiful story!
Your last lines brilliantly portray the fading memories.
Wonderful.

Connie

We all need to take time to remember and bring back those memories even as far back as the birth of Christ to be able to see the LIGHT!!

Joyce, in place like you described, where money is scarce but God is present, there is always happiness. It is incredible that where money flows you find a lot of suicides. Happiness comes from doing things right. Great poem. Victor
