Velvet flannel blanket.....
In a velvet flannel blanket,
newborn kittens cuddle.
Each a different color,
blending when in a huddle.
A mint green basket
with ribbons streaming.
Their first new home
so pretty, gleaming.
Yawning, stretching
trying just to stand.
Eyes closed, nose cold,
together they must band.
They shiver, shake,
legs wobble, they fall.
Pick them up they cry
a faint shrill mew call.
So tiny in one hand,
one can hold two.
How do they manage,
God is watching, it is true .
Orange, white, brown, tan,
black, golden, gray,
Such details are showing
on this glorious day.
In this basket secure,
they must now stay.
For if they get out,
they surely will stray.
