My brother and I have recently found out that my youngest "daughter" has just swindled our mother of all her money and placed her in a nursing home under lock and key literally.....

Poem Artwork

                                     Locked.......

                 An elderly woman cries,
                trapped inside four walls,
                    A shell of a woman,
              once stood tall, now crawls.

                Spending her days staring,
                out a window to nowhere.
                    Remembering her life,
               wishing she was somewhere.

             No visitors, no telephone calls,
no emails, letters in or out.
Being kept a prisoner, complete solitude,
by a grand daughter's greed and clout.

A matriarch, a leader, today frail,
          whatever happened to Aunt Honey.
She has been silenced, locked away,
by one whose thoughts are only money.

Once strong, stoic, a lady of strength,
brow beaten, sedated, betrayed of late.
In a wheel chair she stares, her mind

a blank,
trying desperately to remember why this fate.

By accident news travels, word gets out,
a son and daughter are trying to find.
          Someone strong, smart and willing,
a kindly lawyer to take on a case of this kind.

This woman deserves to be free, not caged,
to be among family and friends at home.
At eighty four she is not long for this life,
but needs to be free to travel and roam.

She may cause trouble, may try to run,
in a nursing home orders were given.
Keep her sedated and locked in her room,
         grand daughter's inheritance is what
                                has driven.

Tired of waiting, seeing her chance,
sneaking in taking over complete control.
God please help us undo all she has done,
for we fear it will take the ultimate toll.

Daughter the money remaining is not yours,
it belongs to the old woman you
                            locked away.
          Your grand mother's comfort and
                         health is at stake,
I pray God forgives you for what you
                        have done this day.

This poem and why it was written makes me really, really mad!
Your writings tell me that you are a kind, loving and compassionate woman. Sadly, your daughter has taken the wrong path - one that leads to her own destruction.

My prayers are with you, your brother and especially your Mother.
Please dear God, help them find a way to right this wrong. Keep them strong. In this life there are many stumbling blocks, help them find someone who can help them, just as Simon helped you carry your cross. You know how their hearts ache, give them comfort. Help them to stay focused on caring for their Mom, not getting even - there is time later to take the steps necessary to have justice prevail. In Your name, I ask that You guide their footsteps, knowing that in all things [good and bad] there is much to be learned about Your goodness.

God bless you and may you find peace, strength and LOVE.

It won't be long. . . .
Her 'precious' money will be gone. . . .
And she'll have to answer to a Higher Authority.
What an emotional poem!
What to do???

My goodness Karen, this reads more like fiction for hollywood! How terrible for you and the family! We never know what our children are capable of, and she must have something pushing her hard to do such a thing. Whatever, I've been praying and will continue to,hoping you can find some peace and comfort as you go through this trial.

Karen, I saw this too many times while working in the health care proff. seniors abandoned by their very own, left to die and forgotten about.
Bless you my dear for rising up in her defense; like children the elderly are weak and vulnerable and need a loud voice to plead their case. I hear your heart's cry my dear, Bless you, love Holly

This happens all too often. I've seen it happen in my wife's family. Greed is not the only villain here. Lack of compassion and the ability to look past the agony of a family member in their time of need is horrible.

You've done a nice job expressing your feelings. In these fights, unfortunately, there are no winners.

My heart is heavy knowing that your heart is broken. I think of a wonderful woman being imprisoned only because she had enough money for someone to drool over and steal. It is sad enough when a stranger takes from us, but, something else entirely when it is one of our own blood. I beleive the bible is accurate in its statement the "the love of money is the root of all evil." When that love exceeds the love of family people like your mom fall victim. Be assured that there will be a penalty paid in both this life and the next for your daughter for sacrificing her grandmother. You and your family are in my prayers, and most of all, your mom too.
God Bless
Chris

Karen,
This is a crime against humanity! Your daughter must see the light, she will be suffering such bad karma..money is not worth this. You mama is so fragile and she wants to just be able to feel the sun on her face and hands. I shall pray for her physical and emotional release. "God in Heaven please release this poor woman, who has only tried to live her life to her best ability, she deserves to live free for the rest of the days she has..Forgive her granddaughter, for she knows not the depth of what she has done. She will shine in your presence at the end of her days. In this I pray so let it be." Peace, Love, and God's Light shine on you and your family.

A very sad write Karen and well written. Too true today for so many of the elderly. I've seen this in my own family circle. It is so sad today that so many are driven by the desire for money rather than love. I will pray that you can rectify this situation very soon. May God bless you. pdb

This is a hard pill to swallow. It happens often in a society that has little empathy for the aging. Youth Rules from lack of wisdom and will not see the error of their ways until it is too late. I pray that it all works to the good for you and your mom....
