           Together nurtured.....

A proud mom and dad together nurtured,
an infant son filled with love and surprise.
Years of patience, devotion to family,
a future gently unfolds before their eyes.

Together nurtured.....

The pages of this book, yet to be written,
soon were destined to shine a bright light.
First hair cut, first tooth, first tricycle ride,
all leading towards destiny's might.

Together nurtured.....

Two parents whose love never waivered,
by the side of their son, standing strong.
Teaching strength, diligence and faith,
self reliance, perseverance, when life goes wrong.

Together nurtured.....

A little boy played, in school learned,
coloring books, roller skates, video games too.
Band-aids, skinned knees, days at the beach,
baseball, football, just to name a few.

Together nurtured.....

Teddy bears, favorite songs, hugs to go around,
tiny hands reaching up, mom wiping away tears.
Two years, five years, candles on a cake,
dad locks the doors at night calming all the fears.

Together nurtured.....

Smiling, laughing, a sparkle in his eyes,
a little boy, growing up, soon to make his way.
A mother's heartfelt love, a father's genuine pride,
years pass far too quickly, time to have his say.

Together nurtured.....

A mother, a father, a task completed,
communicating by telephone, email or write.
Pride in their son, yet missing him too,
with a family's warmth and love shining bright.

Together nurtured.....

God please hear our heartfelt prayers,
watch over this young soul wherever he may go.
All remain faithful and stand by his side,
with resolute vigilance, our eternal love to show.

Together nurtured.....

A little boy has grown to be a man,
off on an adventure, destination unknown.
Keeping vigil, a family promises,
until the day their son comes home.

God bless you Nick we all love you!
                 Be Always Safe....

Karen, this is beautiful, and also shows that the love of a parent to care for their child is an unending chapter of our lives as a parent...
the lives here at home on edge, unable to rest until like you bless him with this beautiful poem "Keeping vigil, a family promises,
until the day their son comes home."
he still is "Together nurtured....."

It is both a proud and painful moment when "care and control" gives way to letting go and enabling them to fly. But it is what we as parents are always aspiring to. And nothing more fulfilling than witnessing a job well done. This is a fine family portrait and tribute, Karen. God bless them all! :)) xx

Beautiful poem, Karen. A type of Bar Mitzvah - becoming a man.
May the Lord keep your cousin's son out of harms way.

Karen,
A fine tribute to concerned, responsible parenting and to love and compassion; we can do it if we really want to. Love is in the will.
