The Old Oak Tree

As i sat alone under
the old oak tree.
Staring up at the
big blue sky.

Oh how it brought
back so many memories
Of days when i would
sit here with my guy.

I recall how we would
sit and day dream.
Making all kinds of
future plans.

Only like yesterday
does it all seem.
Since we were sitting
here hand and hand.

The old oak tree
still looks the same.
Even after all of
these years.

So much between us
has forever changed.
For now alone i sit
as i shed my tears.

For God suddenly
came along and took
you away.
Things just happened
much too fast.

There were so many
things that i still
had to say.
Before i even had
the chance
You had already
passed away.

I wrote this one
many years ago...
It was for my first
true love who passed
away at age 26...
You never do forget
your first love...

Trixie, so lovely albeit very sad. Brought back memories of my first love who died in Vietnam. Thanks! And thanks for your kind review of my poem. When I have more time I intend to read all your poetry. You have much talent.
