Hopes are ropes of reason thrown

My goodness I could write a book in response, Eileen. I'm with you 110% on our culpability to some extent and certainly our responsibility to "be the change we wish to see." And I know from personal experience when I many times could have done or said something but kept my mouth shut for the sake of society's "peace" or 'cause I didn't figure my own ropes could do much but hang myself again (i.e. been burned, why bother, etc.). I have wanted to take some time to myself to pray about and consider similar issues for awhile. Have been putting it off, but your poem really reached down and grabbed my heart on this. After Christmas, when I'll have a day or two of semi-peace, I'm going to do it and just see what comes. Thanks so much for the way you write from your heart and say what's on your mind, Dawn

These are very powerful soul searching questions, Eileen, and I agree with you that it's our fault. But I often also think that mankind might be inherently doomed. Since the day mankind first arrived on this planet, we can't seem to rise above our global violence, hatred, and bigotry. And we often don't respect ourselves, our neighbors, and most of the life forms on this planet.

Can we, or better yet, will we - ever rise above? I truly wonder.

Listening to Catholic radio Ave Maria and visiting renaissance poetry of Dante is a viable journey in absorbing and retaining categorical wisdom to enlighten others of like-minded caliber. We all have to find our niche 'religion/spirituality' and "preach" our "rope tricks" with fire-eating, sitting on nail beds, walking on sharp swords collective message "isms." And our wisdom(isms) have to be Hot enough and Sharp enough to command an attentive-want-to-be-here audience to draw in the unenlightened without being judgemental. If you build it, they will come.

Agree with the consensus of opinion below...it is not your or my fault the world is in such a mess...it is all part of a pre ordained plan for the coming advent of our Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ !

Oh, Eileen, we all share some culpability in the decline of Rome . . . er . . . Western Civilization. Very few of us can hold our heads up high and walk the moral road concerning this. I fear the taint of civilization might just be permanent. I can't not speak out about certain things, however, even though some would call me a hypocrite because of things I have done, but I just don't care anymore what THEY call me. Your poem really zeroed my thoughts on our dire situation. But, yes Karla, we can and should, blame ourselves.

It's people who have a problem; this has NOTHING to do with you, Eileen! Don't go blaming yourself! You have done all you can, and that is all that matters. God knows your heart, and so do I. Don't blame yourself; all you can do is pray and continue to teach the truth. If people don't listen, it's not your fault. You've done all you can. A poignant, heartfelt plea...which reaches down and squeezes the soul. BRAVA!
