I felt like a fish fouled in a net
I couldn't get loose

The more I tried the more tangled I became

I realized he was playing a game
I was never going to win
Loving him had been my sin

He had me in solitary confinement
There was no place for me to go
If  I did escape, I'd wind up in cement

I knew what I was getting into from the start
Knew no one walks away from a mobster
Unlike the rest of us, they don't have hearts

Unhappy the day, I knew, and said yes anyway
Funny how justice decides what pays

Moral~ Lame excuses fall on deaf ears

Knew no one walks away from a mobster

Sounds like a few characters I once knew in Chi-Town.

Sometimes we seem to never learn. Wonder why? I imagine it is different according to the person, but basically I guess we just need the touch and support of another human being, and so what if they are flawed? Give a chance, we can change them. Whoop-de-doo, how many times has THAT been tried and will be tried in the future. Good poem. Fantastic moral.

Lame excuses fall on deaf ears and are forged within fragile and hopeful hearts, probably... at least, very trusting ones. Love is always spelt R-I-S-K and it takes courage and strength couched in vulnerability to walk that road completely openly. Yet strong is the heart forged and refined in the heated furnace of harsh experience... it heals itself and provides meat and shelter for others less strong. A good parable here, Eileen, which many can relate to. Guess it just goes to show that Prohibition should always remain with us... but with US making the wise decisions as to what that should be!
