I heard on the news that they got back to Sea.
I hope that's true. But there's many forces at
play in this mixed up world today.

Whales recorded calls had been used successfully to entice "disoriented" whales back to open sea. More often than not, mothers with newborn calfs seek shallo waters to proptect its calfs from shark travelling in packs.
Many, for us mysterious ways, are a natural motion of preservation, that it ended many times in tragedy, we can't foresee.

Eileen, when I was a kid, we would go catfishing in the Sacremento Sloughs, this sad event brought back memories. I too, hope they are able to find their way back out to the ocean...safe travels.

There has always been a mourning in my SPIRIT...each and eveytime... that I see such an AWESOME...BEATIFUL and MAJESTIC Creature such as these...do such a thing! I have nodoubt in my mind...or SPIRIT that it is a SIGN from God! Of HIS Great Sacrifices...to alert...not only those that are HIS...but also those...that HE is calling!!!

We'll all be in the same boat in less than 100 years from now. So many things we do not know but God gave all of us the intellect to know right from wrong and yet many of us bright people choose what is wrong. Free will. The poor animals have instincts that sometimes get mixed up and they can't correct the problem.

You have posed some things to your readers that baffle many, to the point that they give up trying to understand on a deeper level and remain content to skim on the surface of their self-centered pursuits while eliminating the Creator from their thoughts and actions. Are these signs nature is giving us of Gods impending judgement?

I've been following the story since day one. Sad indeed that a wrong turn into the delta may cost them their lives. Beaching is another matter of grave concern. Toxins passed through the food chain and sonar have had a severe impact on the whales. A wonderful passionate write that makes one realize how fragile our ecosystem really is. Thanks for this.

You pen a deeply moving, thought provoking poem with unanswered questions: I think the stanza,

"...It boggles the mind how some are so
stubborn at going their own way in life
even if it is the wrong choice, and may
lead to death, but most of all we ponder
why they came here in the first place.
It's said there is a reason for all things ...." says it best.

Matthew 7:13-14 came to mind reading your words: "Enter ye in at the straight gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat; Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Who can understand the Mind of the Creator? There is a reason for all things; I don't think it is creation destroying itself; I think it is mankind's sinful nature and apathetic greed that is harming Nature. Also, I think that God puts creatures in places where man normally wouldn't see them, to see His hand at work.

Anyway, an excellent write, well done, I pray that Delta and Dawn make it to the open sea safely.
