These days of  listless
living~having lost the
gift of giving~ for the
world has wasted
wonder~by tearing
love asunder

To practice hate
instead~as it circles
in our head~we try
to put it  aside~but
world meaness we
can't hide

Peace is just a prayer
we say~as we lose it
every day~in one way
or another ~for we war
against our brother

We disrupt the planets
harmony~with our
stubborn disunity~
uncaring of how we
spoil~God's creation
with our turmoil

Where's the love we claim
to share~with all people
everywhere~I fear it has
become a recluse~love is
just a word we missuse!

etw

Yes, Eileen, talk is soooooo cheap nowadays, people don't have back bones and have become very unaccountable. What a shame...

And somehow I missed this one. Sorry about that, Eileen - powerfully penned commentary on today's apathetic, don't give a rip except about themselves society - where is the love, indeed? Well penned -

Well, your poem is so insightful and profound. Praying everyday makes a difference. Yes, the wars continue to rage and the rage is just there to be tapped into. You though make a difference just as I do. If we don't tap into the hate that is fewer people doing it. Recently I have experienced spontaneous acts of compassion and hostility. Not from the same people. One can only hope and continue to pray. Excellent write. Liz

If only we followed the Big Ten given to Moses, most problems could be resolved, or not begin! Why do so many forget this gift of commandments...
Great reminders in your poem, Eileen...

Eileen, this is such a wonderfully written poem that is so true ... Exactly, where is the love? Whatever happened to love thy neighbor? People are selective in whom they love and if you're not related or a friend, then screw you, why should I love you?! Its that kind of attitude that just makes me sick! Its everywhere, Ailina, even on this site. So sad and oh so true ... You touched me with this poem ... I've never used the word "love" lightly and if I say it, I mean it ... Thank you for this poem. Eileen, we see so many things happening in life where there is "no" love shown for anyone. This poem gives a reader a lot to ponder and to think about. Too many people negelects to reach out and show love and understanding to people and other countries. It causes pain & grief in the hearts of those who do care. Such a profound compelling write.

Hah!!! Nero is fiddlin' my friend . . . When a man can be struck by a vehicle and knocked senseless in the street and cars doesn't even slow down, much less stop to help, tells me all I need to know about the world and its self-righteous self.

Problem is, who's talk about love, and for whom, and how much it will cost...we have been lied so much that them have converted us in a skeptical bunch.
Today love has been reduce to a very few, family core and selected friends...after that we are cynical, we don't believe anymore.
