Sham House

the house had a presence
one that conveyed  dissent
occupants restless, never
at ease with each other

worse were the wretched feelings
as if walking on shards of glass
leaving bloodstains on the
carpet of her mind

the bedroom had no signs of life
no emanations of passion
no muffled sounds of satiety
or whispered words of love

fruit in the garden was putrescent
someone had a green thumb
but neglected to tend what grew
leaving nostrils to inhale decay

living together 2 years before marriage
did nothing to improve their 5 yr relationship
they stayed in their home  of sham and lies
refusing to admit the bitter truth

they had one thing in common, arrogance
each wanted the other to accept most blame
neither would relent, to share it equally
they've grown  accustomed to living deception

gee Eileen how did you know this much about my life, amazing. My wife and I were together 17 years before we got married, now we've been married for 7 years now. So you add the two times and you get about 24 years altogether. Anyway at times I sleep on the sofa and at times I don't. I told my wife at our age now, we might as well ride this love life on out, regardless of our sometimes dead love affair, so this is what we do. I also told her if I was in my thirties I'd have to ask for a divorce due to the inactivity, my wife looked at me and said, if we were in our thirties we'd be doing it like horny rabbits. I said you know, you are right. We make up for lost desires by having fun dancing to the music and other things of joy, my wife is my favorite running and dancing partner, hugas

Don't think I can even begin to go there today, Eileen. When partners are unequally yoked emotionally, eventually the spirit within one, other or both dies. There is no true bonding, whatever good intentions exist or however one copes with the day-to-day living. Fundamentally, we are who we are. The truth will out, otherwise we know to our cost that the body and mind grow sick. But how to deal with it when all you've ever known is the will and desire to please the other? Denial is the result. This is the other side to the arch arrogance and selfishness you portray in this cameo, but the same pain is involved. And, after over thirty years, perhaps it's a nightmare one just doesn't dare wake up to. Seems many of us know all about Sham Houses. More's the pity. Spot on as always. xx

One can love and live apart, one can live and love together, but where hate and selfishness is stronger than love, all fruits that dwell in that garden are of shattered dreams, especially in todays society where selfishness and ego shatter all compromise, the concept of what real love is drowned in that selfishness a long time ago. To many pictures of love (mostly sexual) to many words of love (mostly sexual) to many words(in general) but not action. It is not just or even, but what you do with that love, compromise is a big part of it. Bless you! Jasmin Horst

Right fighters will never find peace or contentment and will always live in a world of deception. You wrote a very wise and truthful write. Hopefully they will see that if they can forget winning the fight and simply listen to our significant other once in awhile we would learn that. Love and hugs, Bonnie
