perhaps the long lost pendant
was not wanting to get lost again
I had no other reason why it
kept slipping from my grasp

I tried several times to pack it
in with some other jewelry,but
it kept falling ,sliding out of
wherever i put it,as if it had
a life of its own

it caused me to sit down for a
few minutes and ponder while I
examined it anew, it was a lovely
gold heart with mother of pearl
inserted in finely etched gold braid

I'd had it for many years, and
thought I'd lost it,now the memory of a
lost love came flooding back which I
thought locked safely away for good

I smiled as I thought that the man
who had given it to me,had finally
got his way, by forcing me to
remember him

I tried again and got the gem packed
with ease, and at the same time came to
terms with the old affair, which I could now
face and forget without hurt

Isn't that just the way life is sometimes? Prodding us to remember...and in remembering, we find that there is peace where we thought was pain.

Precious, these tokens which are weighted with meaningful and eventful pasts, perhaps lost in the present until they reappear, redoubling their significance to enable us to do closure and to walk complete into a solid future, taking the good things with us. I do believe that all things given in love have ultimately only the power to cleanse, heal and make beautiful, notwithstanding other, perhaps sadder, circumstances which might temporarily impede the spirit with which they were given. A warming and effortless write which imparts as well as receives a blessing. So good to have you back with us, Eileen, and trust all surgeries have gone/are going well. xx

Growth is inevitable, but not all growth is good, it's just a change. But here within the lines of this poem is positive growth and strength, learning to put the past where it belongs and without the pain. A moving write.

it's strange how inanimate objects can take on a life of their own when they remind us of what and where we use to be ... dear & moving poem!

This is a stage of life, kind of personal skill and majurity you have reached. You and your past are onn good terms. You can even turn those that are unpleasant to pleasant ones, something you can laugh at or enjoy while looking them back. God Bless You Queen.

This is a piece of evocation and occasion that works well because of the setting (no pun!) the memories, the past connections. I love how you see this, Eileen, and how you have delivered it.
