Life in The Fast Lane

Some days we over fill our time and feel as though we are pushing and pulling in the opposit directions at the same time. Some of us take the time to breathe and some of us just have a good cry before pushing on. What we should do is slow down and smell the flowers, taste the coffee and make time to live while we can.

Coming and going,
Not knowiny where is the stair,
Rushing through the day,
It just doesn’t seem to be fair,
There’s not enough hours,
To fulfill our everyday,
Always to many things,
Something gets in the way.
A child’s sick,
My works falls behind again,
The car got a flat,
I think I’m going insane.
Life should be enjoyed,
Slow down let your time regain,
You’ve got one life to live,
Don’t live life in the fast lane.
The child is alright,
The tire it got changed,
I know I’ll have to slow down,
Before I go insane.
The computer just took a break,
There’s nothing to be seen,
How can I ever get ahead,
There’s nothing on the screen.
Maybe it’s time for me to slow down,
Stop living life in the fast lane.
I have to enjoy each day I live,
Before I go insane.

Well dear Cuz, for the first write of yours I read upon my return I must say this is a good one for you and maybe you will take your own advice and do just as this true poem suggests, then maybe your old cuz will too. It's good to be back, hopefully catch up later.

Thanks for this, Rose. Just what I need... Trouble is, if there ain't nothin pressin, I create somethin that is!! :)) Time-pressure is somethin that is lived inside my head, rather than externally, perhaps. Never enough hours in the day, even if I were never to sleep. Yet, within that, I DO take the time to make sure that I see the full moon tonight and smell the grass before I sleep. I like to feel I never "waste" a minute, but then, perhaps I would last longer if I did... I need the T-shirt that says: "Don't wake me, I'm busy!" Very poignant wisdom poem that combines the reflection of the gravity of the moment with the intensely personal "everyday". Peace be with you, Rose. Love, Kate xx

Hi Rose,I agree that people shouldn't live life in the fast lane.Instead just drive your car at a rate where you don't get a ticket :-).I always try to enjoy my life one day at a time and most importantly appreciate the littliest things that I have in my life.I don't need to smell the roses because you are the only Rose that I see where your poetry creates an aroma of calm,happiness and wisedom.I enjoy reading this poem,take care

Wonderfully true and sometimes we forget why God has loaned us time in his magnificent garden. Always take the time to inhale all of his many wonders. Love your photograph, really adorable...

Gotta love that frazzled kitty. We do have days like that. Can I suggest a very small change (first stanza):

Coming and going,
Not knowing where is the stair,
Rushing through the day,
It just doesn’t seem to be fair.

I think this would make the fourth line solid.

We can sure identify with the message in this one, Rose :-)

Rose, I was just telling this to a friend this morning. I have slowed down, I now drive slower, eat slower and think slower (lol). I do want to enjoy the rest of my life here on this planet. If everyone would just slow down 5mph everytime they drive, we would conserve so much fuel it would be mind staggering..
