Sunlight beams through my small window
High up on the wall;
It falls past the potted plants,
Outshining the frail artificial light
And illuminating my desk
While warming me where I sit
Busily accomplishing the many tasks
That make up my workday.
From time to time
I look to the window
And watch the occasional cloud go by,
Wishing I was a bird
Capable of flight.
On such a beautiful afternoon
It's a shame to be confined
By walls and glass.
Perhaps I am a bird,
An avian prisoner
Kept caged by the necessity of living
A responsible life.
There is much to be said about being a bird - flying above all life's ugliness and soaring among the clouds. And, then it get worse as Spring really begins to pretty up the landscape - work a necessity, but oh what a bummer.
God bless you. Kathy
The soul wants to be free, can feel the yearning to fly in these well written lines. Excellent.
