The sun sets
On another long day
Of anguish and worry
For the ones
Whose "babies"
Come here for healing;
Dogs, cats, horses, ferrets,
Snakes, cows, llamas, birds,
All manner of God's creatures
Know the finest care
Men and women can provide,
Bringing most back to health
And giving them a second,
And sometimes third,
Lease on life.
A remarkable place this is,
A place of miracles
Hard won through research
And study
By everyday angels
In white coats, coveralls,
And scrubs.
