I get so much
Satisfaction
From supporting the troops
With cards and letters
And the occasional care package.
I don't expect
To ever hear from them,
But once in a while
I'll receive a letter
Or an email
Thanking me
For not forgetting them,
And my heart soars!
I would do it anyway,
But knowing for sure
That my efforts bear fruit
In the hearts and minds
Of our deployed men and women
Adds a sweetness
To my day
That cannot be denied.
So until they all come home
I will continue
To do my part,
To send to them
A little piece of home,
To reassure them that, indeed,
They are not
Forgotten.
