Poem Artwork

We are born

To ride the carousel.

We can be content

To go round

And round,

Riding the horse

Up and down,

Always moving

But never really going

Anywhere,

And enjoying the ride

Without gaining

Anything more substantial

Than the wind

In our hair,

Or…

We can take a risk

And reach for

The gold ring

That glistens invitingly

As we fly by.

We may miss it,

We may fall off,

It may take

Hundreds of attempts

Before we hold it

In our hand,

But the overwhelming joy it brings

Would make each preceding failure

Inconsequential.

I agree with you a bunch. Never forget how I was too small to reach that brass ring but it was thrill the first time I grabbed it.
