I’ve been assigned
A new soldier to support!
Oh, the excitement
And the reward Of knowing that I
Am making a difference
In the life
Of someone who
Would willingly
Lay down their life
To preserve my Freedom.
They ask so little,
These men and women
Of our armed forces,
Requesting small things
Like bug repellant,
Magazines
And snacks;
Things we may take
For granted,
The least I can do
Is provide them
These minor comforts
And to send them
Many cards and letters
To remind them
That I am thinking of,
And praying
For them.
Some might say
What I do
Is a duty,
But I beg
To differ.
It is something
I not only do willingly,
But also with joy.
It really is
