I wish I understood
Why
I was meant to spend
My time on Earth
Alone amongst many, and
Why
I must be the one
Who always gives, and
Who is always there when
Others need a shoulder,
But can rarely find one
When I need it.
If I have true value beyond
My usefulness
I wish I knew
What it is.
I wish I was loved
As I love,
I wish I was cherished
As I cherish.
I wish I didn't have to
Work so hard
Not to be forgotten
When not needed,
That I wasn't always the one
Who did the checking in
When someone isn't heard from,
Who always sent the card
To say hello, I'm thinking of you,
I care.
I wish there was someone
Somewhere
Who would stand by me,
Stay near me when
My strength, hope, and faith
Are weak.
I'm told,
And I believe,
God does
All these things,
But sometimes God simply
Isn't enough.
