While Norseman were fierce fighters, there's much more to them–their technology.
The Little Ice Age caused their crops to fail and they were desperate to find warmer lands to grow food. They had superior ships for handling rough seas. They could build houses of stone in the harshest of climates. Their swords were made from high carbon steel that was unheard of in the rest of the world…requiring very high forge temperatures they mastered. To navigate the seas by the sun when it was cloudy, they used a special quartz glass that allowed them to view the sun through clouds. They probably were the first to settle in North America long before Columbus arrived in 1492.
