I don't know why it's been brought up
It happened years ago
Perhaps I'm cleaning closets
And it's time to let it go(?)

She was my best of friend
Beautiful and blonde
Perfect figure, sexy smile
We had a special bond

Then that fateful Easter came
She stayed with us a week
Getting crazed on Rock n Rye
Or high, on pot we'd sneak

God! the things we'd talk about
No less, the things we'd do
But never in a million years
Did I expect, with you

That incident of when you slept
Sitting in your chair
As Kate and I took videos
And Christine nailed you there

I was in too much of shock
How could I react?
Her sitting, wrapped up in your lap
While your tonsils she'd extract

You claimed that you were startled
It's a 'guy thing' you explained
It really didn't mean a thing
But that night, you called her name

Now I agree, it's pretty close
From Krissy to Christine
But I would have never noticed
If I hadn't saw the former scene

A night or two passed quitely
At least, that's what I thought
But I couldn't sleep and wandered out
A shock is what I got

There you were...the two of you
On our couch she lies
In a skimpy little teddy
And your hand between her thighs

Your reaction rather noticable
E'en across the room
But neither of you noticed me
Hidden in the gloom

I watched you touch her, heard her moan
You never even saw
The tears that fell from wounded eyes
As my heart broke in the raw

My husband and my bestest friend
How could I choose between
Or lose the ones I loved the most
How could you be so mean

I must've sobbed, or even gasped
You both looked round at me
Your face went pale, she grabbed a quilt
And I pretend I didn't see

Your poor excuse was innocence
A back rub for her pain
You couldn't sleep and found her there
I'd nod while you explained

She left a few days later
Nothing left the same
You took her to the airport
That night...called me her name

The years have passed, and she is gone
I'm sad she's gone away
Cause now I think the choice I made
Was the wrong one I let stay

no explanations..just cleaning closets!....black velvet is a good antisceptic!..love k

Oh hun..I can imagine how hurt. Jeez...this was very touching. Loved it and like the way you have carried yourself with strength all this while. By the way, just a lil change...I hope I'm right here. Second last stanza....second line - is it "felt". Just a thought.

Excellent write hun! Screw such men...they don't deserve respect and they shouldn't be given any.

Hi Krissy,
Been there know exactly the pain you are refering to.
I also understand that in moments of stress those old insecurities, can roll up like thunderclouds, I do not think any one is immune to them, the only thing to consider about fear, is fear its self.
Love.

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
