Glaring At The Noonday Sun

Eagerly upon the winds of fate
Autumn pounded at the gate
No lesser shall I bereave
Amidst the quarrel amongst the leaves

Like the heavens shed their tears
The leaves have fallen here for years
No leaf gives way to the leap of fate
So why should I give way to my own fate

Beneath the light of the noonday sun
Who could believe that time had come

Effortlessly like on parade
The saplings surrender to the ice capades
And there were hoof prints in the snow
But who would follow and where to go

Bewildered by the endless sight
How I hoped that it was night

Crouched upon a field of grass
Glaring at the noonday sun
None would have thought. As time surpassed
Beneath the shadows heaven shunned
