Beneath The Scene So Soft And Mellow

Swelter before the noonday sun
And listen as the children run
Ripples line the sheltered shore
Where now they rest in death once more

Hollyhock among the roses
Bluebells listen making poses
Strawberries glisten in the morning light
Cherry red and very bright

To strike a pose before the rose
And feel the crab grass beneath your toes
Through the valley rivers flow
Unto where only heaven knows

Bask beneath the noonday sun
And listen to the bees that hum
Beneath the scene so soft and mellow
I love the pastel greens and yellows

And in the shadows beside the nook
Behold the slender of the brook
