A poem Ed wrote, "What Have We Become?"
is the inspiration for this poem/essay.

What, indeed, have we become? And what
should we do about it?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
if i put blinders on my eyes,
seeing only what i choose to see,
i am blind.
                                               if i stopper up my ears,
                                 hearing only what i want to hear,
                                                                  i am deaf.
if i lash out in anger,
causing pain or harm in word or deed,
i am an assaulter.
                                    if my anger causes death,
                               either physically or mentally,
                                            call me a murderer.
if i commit wrongdoing,
knowingly, willfully or unconciously,
i am a sinner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it is time to take responsibility for your words.
it is time to take responsibility for your actions.
it is time to take responsibility for your brothers.
it is time to offer a helping hand to those who need it.
it is time!
it is time to feed the hungry and let the thirsty drink.
it is time to offer the homeless shelter and the path to a better life.
it is time to stop taunting those different than you.
it is time to put God back in our homes and in our schools  (i am not ashamed) and time for ceaseless praying.
it is time!
it is time to get out and get moving and get involved again.
It is time to respect our elderly, who raised us to know better.
It is time to educate our children, who are our future.
it is time to stop the hatred, the terror, the descrimination.
it is time!
IT IS TIME!

IT IS TIME!!!!

(((((Karla)))))
Its time for all of that, and it's time for us to get back to our roots as Karen said the Biblical foundation this country was founded on...
God Bless

(((Karla)))

Terrific poem with a timely (and much needed) message! Thanks for sharing; I pray we return to God and/or the Biblical foundations on which America was founded and allow prayer/discipline to be brought back into our homes, schools, and public places!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears <

FANTASTIC response, Karla... when you are inspired like this, all hell breaks loose and shatters to pieces in the face of your focus and your plea... Unforfunately, when we rant of these things, we are "preaching to the choir"... let's try getting in the faces of those who move us to write of inhumanity. You've lit the fire... now let's go get 'em! This is a power-packed call to "arms", Karla... you've penned perfect! katy xox.

You ARE right, Mz Karla, IT IS TIME!
But I am afraid the past is, just that, PAST! Time's have changed, I am afraid, we can hide from that change, as do I, or we can run away from it, or we can do something to help our world...not to be a pessimist, but I doubt we have anything left we truly CAN do, our time has done the same as the past has done, it has passed us by, only for us to watch it do so further...

This has a wonderful upbeat note & idea, and it is well thought out and well put together, but that is as far as an idea like this will go, unfortunately...Peace, to my friends, the special "K" twins, ED, Rene' & Rufuz
