Dear karla it gets worse when you become a seasoned citizen (senior). Medicare becomes the primary and they pay $2.00 for everything. They really want us old birds to fly away but guess what. I ain't, so stick in, and hang in there. Peace and blessings <Hugs> Mikii. pps, they are talking about dropping my breathing meds and nebulizers what can I tell you, and two doctors have left our small town because they can't afford medicare patients. What's next for us???ROBIN HOOD.

Yes, it is a sorry state of affairs. Those who have insurance have to pay out a small fortune for it. Some go without in order to have it. Karla, I'll pray for you and all the others who can't afford insurance. There are many in the same boat.

Karla I know this sounds ridiculous, but when I worked in the emergency ward as a volunteer,a patient came in an ambulance complaining of chest pain and she wnnt throught the protocol etc and they kept her over for further tests. Found out that she had made it up to get into the hospital, becasue she had no insurance, no doctor , or way to get help. she had no job. She was suffering from a kidney infection. she wound up having health and welfare services visit her and put her on medicaid. She was cured sent home and is now being helped by the state....there really is help if you go to the right places. Ed and Andy are wrong. There are many people get help from the government,on medicaid and programs like that and welfare. Of course if your making enough money to pay for insurance you won't get the help, but otherwise it's out there. I used to take the info for those just like you who came to the hospital with no insurance. Lady A is right too.

Karla... I truly identify with you on this one. I haven't had insurance for five years. It is RIDICULOUS. Our so-called system does do harm. A whole hell of a lot. Yes we have no concerns in Britian, well said Ed..no matter what, we never have to worry about paying any bill. Other countries say how do we afford it, it can't last..well over half century it's doing very well..And has pioneered so much too. Mrs Clinton wanted the same as us.

America only seems to have two kinds of people, the rich, and the uncared for.

Even if you were out of work, all your housing, council tax is paid for, and one would get a mimimum of $1,500 per mnth. free glasses dental care. Medication is free, or for those in work about $7, or pre pay for a yr $100.

The Health Care system in the good old US of A has needed a major overhaul for a very long time, along with price reductions on pharmaceauticals, but none of our fine politicians seem to want to tackle this; and it gets worse all the time.

Hope you get some relief soon.

I will assume this is personally true for you because of how Karen responded, and if that is the case, you have my prayers, Karla. My ex tried to have me cut from his insurance, and I knew the full implication of that threat in America, especially when Procrit costs nearly $700 for six doses. To put it bluntly, the whole system sucks.

it is awful how this country treats criminals, politicians, and illegals. why do you think most law breakers, commit the same crime. Where do they have it best. 3 meals, exercise, health benefits, and school. Forget about the politicians, I don't need to tell you. Lots of illegals know which offices to go to before they even step foot in this country. I feel that if they're gonna take taxes from me, then give me something...if not, leave me the hell alone, i'll take my money and get it myself.

I have a story about my first job and the tax they took from me...but that's another story

Powerful, heartbreaking write that is sadly reality for far too many Americans who need decent healthcare, but are denied while others (like the prisoners, illegals, our "esteemed" leaders in government, etc.) get first choice. It's INDEED a sad state of affairs. As I step up on my soapbox ...well...just listen...If you are on death row you are eligible for a transplant FREE! If you have bad teeth...they get fixed. FREE!!! If you suffer from diabetes as so many peopple today do and can't afford....you can get everything in prison...FREE!! If you are an alien you get first in line for free medical and dental but if you are poor or aged...you dilute your prescriptions so they go further...you don't buy what doctors prescribe because they prescribe the most expensive...so their pharmaceutical reps makes sure they get kick backs...It's never ending. This poem is to the point..suffer if you are in need and not a minority, illegal alien, prisoner etc. If you're that lucky to get medical treatment then , surely...you MUST be a good American. Right!! Okay!! I'm stepping down off the soapbox for a while. Thank you for allowing me to vent. I just hope the right person can do something for you and all the really loyal Americans who made this country what it is and now need this country's help in return.
