Strangling on a lack of interest, The Muse is long past her prime, Her heart no longer wishes to beat In perfect meter and rhyme--
When she was good, she was very good, But the Muse is tired now, She hasn't written for many years... I think she's forgotten how--
Her heartbeat sl o w s and comes to a stop-- Words within are never said-- The poet's eyes close...she breathes her last-- For the Muse, inside, is dead.

As long as there's life, there's breathe and that is the spirit of the Muse... perhaps she's just taking a deep one, or holding it or something!!?? Anyway, she must be playing peek-a-boo cos she's peering out of this playful poem sure enough - can't you see her?! And don't we ALL have so many days when we feel totally poemed-out and are sure we'll never write another thing - then: BINGO!! There she is again, fresh from the shower! My own version of this a while back was something like: "Today my Muse has gone away; she packed her bags and left. 'Overworked and underpaid', she said. So now I feel bereft!" Thank you for voicing so well that writing-hangover thing we all feel from time to time. LOL Kate xx
That would be a sad day indeed! When the written word, whether poetry or prose, is silenced. Good job, Karla. First poem I read today, and it has inspired me.
The life within the poet is that of his/her muse... and when one dies, the other dies entwined with him/her. **A tear for each silenced poem**

Not so, Karla. If your muse is dead, I can
just imagine what you would write with her "alive."
This poem is lovely!!!

me thinks she is napping for she surly woke to write this one excellent.
Yes it seems your muse is far gone, Karla, never to return, but wait, if it is gone, how can you write what you just wrote? Therein lies the crux of the whole problem or lack thereof...Find Peace thru the Muse, Ed & Rufuz
you are on SUCH a roll of late, Karla. this is a fabulous write. i love the way you play with word forms (i.e. stretching out s-l-o-w-s). the standard rhyme and steady beat juxtaposed with the slow dying process you walk us through is excellent. i think we can all identify with something of what this experience is like, too.
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.

Sad write; so many people with creative genius aren't heard, and that is a darn shame! Well done, Karla!
