'Come with me,' my Muse said to me one day, 'I have something to show you. Not everything you see will be pretty, But it needs poetry, too.'
I saw ash covered streets when Towers fell. And Northern Lights in the sky. I saw pain described in ten thousand ways. And I saw God up on high.
I saw our soldiers as they died in war. And the miracle of birth. I saw the dangerous side of weather. And the beauty of the Earth.
I saw children as they struggled to live. And butterflies on the wing. I saw the news get worse every day. And I saw beautiful things.
I saw lightning dance across stygian clouds. And the joy of a sunrise. I saw things that would give someone nightmares. And puppies with their sad eyes.
'What have you learned?' my Muse asked as night came, 'Why have I asked you to write?' 'There is beauty in words, they must be said, That's how a poem takes flight.'
