I am okay--this just came to me when I saw this picture. And so, I write.

Your punching bag is reporting for duty. Should I cancel all my appointments? Busted lip? A busted arm? What should I set out for you to throw at me today?
Your punching bag is reporting for duty. I guess there will be no lunch today. Shattered teeth? Shattered ego? What creative names will you be calling me this time?
Your punching bag is reporting for duty. I don't mind picking up after you. Or lying. Just for you, Babe. Isn't that what love is supposed to be all about?
Your punching bag is reporting for duty. Before I forget, your mother called. Does she know? You know--'bout...us? No--her good son would never do anything like that.
Will there be anything else before I leave? It has been a very busy day. I love you. See you later. Maybe tonight's the night you'll release me...with my death.

Very powerful and intense write! This brought tears to me reading it because it is so true. I volunteered for a while at a local woman's shelter years ago and I saw first hand what fear these abused woman live in (and their children also)! I like that you included, "Shattered ego? What creative names will you be calling me this time?" ...Many don't recognize emotional/verbal abuse. Leaving everlasting scars on one's soul can be detrimental also ...emotional abuse is a lot harder for outsiders to recognize than physical abuse. Any abuse from a so-called "loving" partner is not love and the abused need to get out before it's too late! Thanks for sharing this!

Powerful emotional write. This one punches directly and brings the full horror of this to the reader.
WOW...excellent...powerful...I did a series of articles about domestic violence and the victims always told me they stayed out of fear...it sort of numbed them and made them stay...

Karla, an extremely heartfelt write, my friend. No one, and I mean no one, should every have to endure that type of treatment. Especially if it is from, a so-called man. If anyone, ever behaves like that towards a woman, immediately deserves to have his head knocked off his flipping shoulders! It sickens me to no end, that men still abuse women, and also that women sometime abuse men! Human beings WERE NOT put on this Earth to be abused! Take care and be well.
So chilling in its blunt truth. I too think this should be in women's shelters. it happens much to often. Outstanding Karla.

I have to say that this is the most thought provoking poem that I have read. People do not understand unless they have seen it for themselves what a person goes through with an abuser. I thank God evry breathing moment I have that my husband while we are both poor has never laid a hand on me. He despises this sort of thing. Powerful write and keep it up.
This was a very disturbing, but a very well written poem! Too many women must endure this hell day in and day out; and nobody seems to care about them. When is this horror going to stop? When is justice going to be brought to the victims instead of the accused, who are always getting away with their actions? When are people going to wake up and get involved?? Too many women (and men) have suffered at the hands of their mates, and it is high time something drastic is done to stop this cycle called abuse! Outstanding write, you may have saved some lives today! Thank you for sharing and speaking for those who have no voice or no choice in this matter! BRAVA!!

and they just didn't get it......how manipulated they were
how mistreated and abused they were......
abusers groom their victims in increments.....
till its too late......
this is an awsome write.........excellent.....!
