This is not how I feel. However, this is a reflection on society as a whole--it seems we've lost our compassion. No one gives a damn anymore.

do i have
g-u-l-l-i-b-l-e
stamped on my
forehead in
scarlet shades
of red?

the lonely
and depressed
come to me
with stories
of how sad
they are.

                                                                            i don't care.

the aged
and infirm
lost in their
sickness of
the day slow
me down.

                                                                        don't touch me.

the homeless
and down-on-
their-luck beg
for my help
yet don't help
themselves.

                                                                                 too busy.

telethons
and cans for
charity
want the hard
earned cash i
don't have.

                                                                                  go away.

                                      who helped me
                                        when i was
                                        needing it?
                                         even God
                                       didn't hear
                                       my prayers.

                                       there's only
                                         so much i
                                        can do-get
                                        back to me
                                        when i give
                                        a rat's ass.
