perfection does not exist
in poetry
when broken pens
disguised as
poets
spill ink all over the page

another mess
tears coalesce

they feel like charlie brown
does when lucy
jerks the football away
at the
critical moment of
contact

resounding thwack
flat on their back

the garbage can overflows
with scribbled
attempts
visa card maxed out
from weekly trips
to the psychiatrist's couch *five cents*

they're gonna snap
from writing crap

suddenly in a moment
of divine inspiration
the words come
in an overwhelming flood
that breaches the
levee that is writer's block

and the words come
poems are fun

poets is the craziest people
but they don't mind
it keeps them
from going
totally stark raving
insane

i'm one of them
penning poems

a creature of the night
of habit
this is something
i must do
find the perfection
that  !! IS !!  poetry

poems await
words to create

they are mine, these words
stamped with the
good housekeeping seal
of MY approval
nothing else
matters to me

these words of mine
love them ... BIG time
