I remember, growing up, watching the snow falling into the windshield, sometimes so densely, the effect was hypnotic. Got to thinking about that this warm (bordering on hot) Texas morning; this poem came so strongly, I had to share. Ain't pretty, but it's got to be said.
I cringe as each soldier dies softly on the windshield, their blood and guts remaining as the only reminder of sacrifice paid, to be wiped into memory; to be forgotten; these frozen ghosts, remembered on certain days when it's C O N V E N I E N T ?? Shame.
A much needed message, Karla. We far too often cheer them on to war, then quickly forget their extremely selfless sacrifice, and their pain. Shame, indeed.

Pretty it is indeed... in terms of the fragrance of truth and remembrance it brings. ANY poetry is a beauty when it brings such things to mind, Karla. I think it is nothing less than inspired to weave such thoughts into an image brought to your mind on such a hot day. Very appropriate. And every dead hero will bless you for it. You rock. You are so right and you are defiantely not alone in feeling this way. I hung my head in shame when our own Canadain government refused to continue to lower the flag to half mast for soldiers now dying in foreign lands because they say their are now too many. This world has still a lot to learn about love. Thank you for expressing what many feel Karla.

A movement, Broome? I agree. There are those who spit om our soldiers graves. The movement should be directed at those assholes. Good poem and very moving.
Stark and sad! We should honor all those who fought wars by giving them what they need to live, and vets should not only be remembered
on memorial day. Well done Karla!
