Unexpected; sudden, this sprinkle of rain falling outside the window. Of course, it's not enough (it never is), but we'll take any we can get. Dark splotches lick the soil; the grass perks with hope, temperatures cool down from the blast furnace levels they were. Any change in the forecast is better than nothing at all; I'm grateful for the brief respite ... tomorrow the heat will break me and make me talk.
In Texas the arid conditions compromized with heat is a furnace that isn't conducive to helthy living. It is so easy for many to read your pen and say I understand when they haven't lived that type of hell. I can say that there is nothing delightful or redeeming when you take a breath and your lungs get seered from the heat. I've been there but only for a short time. I had a taste and that's all I needed.
