Oh and how I can relate to this. Recently temperatures in this area soared to 119 degrees F, a record. I literally felt as though I were being cooked alive. Am I relieved that it has cooled down somewhat. It sounds to me like you're experiencing a heat wave there now. An excellent poem that expresses it so well.

My goodness ! Your pen describes our heat here too. For some reason it seems that Texas has turned into an inferno. Bless you and your sister and hang in there a little longer. God won't let us down dearest!

I HAVE SO MUCH EMPATHY FOR YOU...WE ACTUALLY HAD ROADS THAT WERE MELTING - LAST WEEK, I THINK IT WAS! YESTERDAY, THE HEAT AND THE HUMIDITY WERE SO INTENSE, WHEN I STEPPED OUTSIDE TO LET MY CATS OUT, THE AIR PRESSURE FELT AS IF IT WOULD BURST MY SKULL!
WE DID GET A WEE POCKET OF RAIN LAST NIGHT THAT LASTED JUST A FEW MOMENTS...BUT IT WAS ENOUGH TO DROP THE TEMP AND THE HUMIDITY DOES NOT EQUAL THE DEW POINT, TODAY! WAHOO!
I WISH I COULD SEND YOU A BIG SUPPLY OF ITALIAN ICE, KARLA! I SOAK HANDKERCHIEFS AND THEN TIE THEM AROUND MY HEAD [HIPPIE BEANIE STYLE] AND I SIT WITH MY FEET IN A BOWL OF COLD WATER - IT WORKS! KEEPS THE EXTREMITIES COOL IN THE SUMMER, JUST LIKE COVERING THEM KEEPS THEM WARM IN, IN THE WINTER...IT DOES LOOK GOOFY, BUT THAT, TOO, HELPS, BECAUSE WHEN YOU LAUGH AT YOURSELF, YOU FORGET THE HEAT - MOMENTARILY!
BTW, IT'S REAL HOT IN OHIO, TOO, AND MY DAUGHTERS AND GRANDSONS ARE MOVING TO COLUMBUS ON THURSDAY.
