To those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I will remember.
A soldier, dead. I see it in the way trees bow low, feel it in the heaviness of the sky that presses the shoulders down. A flag is triangled, presented to grieving loved ones; "Taps" is played; the coffin is lowered into the ground. Who will remember this, other than Nature and myself?
Applause. I am a Desert Storm veteran and I think any veteran would appreciate this. And so would those serving that are in harms way.

This is exactly why I gave the answer I did when someone asked me if I was driving in "this downpour" to vote. People die for the freedom I have to vote. It is disrespectful to not vote when they fight for MY right to do so!

This powerful, angry piece shows your anger and frustration at the lack of support of our vets, which is very well justified. I feel the exact same way, and to those who are protesting the war, let THEM fight and send THEM to Iraq! Let them see what we are having to endure day after day; it may open their eyes! I am still hacked off at Sen. Kerry's inane comments; he makes me so mad!! Very well done, Karla; may the flag forever wave, and may people learn to appreciate the hard work our vets, past, present, and future, are putting into this war to ensure our freedoms! May God protect them, and may He open our eyes to see that they need all the help/support we can possibly give them!

Wow! Powerful, Karla. Your tribute pulls at the heartstrings. This is not the end, though, for he has indeed left this life only to begin another with Jesus.
A very powerful write, Karla. I am still livid over Sen. Kerry's comment. Our brave military men do a job that I, personally, am not brave enough to do and yet, they do not receive the pay or respect they so dearly deserve. I have always said even if you are against the war, you must support the troops who lay it all on the line, at times, for our freedom and way of life.
