Cigarette Blues

Go ahead, smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette...
Ain't you through with your nicotine fit YET??
It seems like every ten minutes you need a break,
How many smokes do you smoke when awake?

Smoking...there you are, smoking...
The air in here is positively choking...
Can't I have a little clean air to breathe?
It's condusive to life, I do believe...
So stop smoking...ya gotta stop smoking...

It seems when I need your help the most,
You're hidden by smoke, looking like a ghost...
I wish I got that extra time off from work...
Instead I'm stuck here with the boss (the JERK!!).

Smoking...there you are, smoking...
The air in here is positively choking!!!
Can't I have a little clean air to breathe??
It's conducive to life, I do believe...
So stop smoking...ya gotta stop smoking...

Don't like the smell of smoke on your clothes & hair
Whew, it smells worse than week old underwear!!
When you open your mouth, I wanna pass out...
"Ewww, your mouth stinks!!" is what I wanna shout.

Smoking...there you are, smoking...
The air in here is positively choking!!!
Can't I have a little clean air to breathe??
It's conducive to life, I do believe...
So stop smoking...gotta stop smoking...

How much are smokes...couple dollars a pack?
Is it worth the price of a heart attack??
And whatcha gonna do when they raise the price?
Please listen to me, and take my advice...

Smoking...you've gotta stop smoking...
The air in here don't have to be so choking...
We can all have some clean air to breathe...
It's condusive to life, we do believe...
So stop smoking...ya gotta stop smoking!!

I need to take my OWN advice and quit smoking. I've been smoking for over 20 years. I know it's not good for me, I know the health risks (being a medic in the past). I *have* cut down. (A carton used to not last me a week. I now buy one carton every two weeks. I make it last...I have to! Too danged expensive!!!) I have tried to stop several times, haven't made it yet. I am not the nicest person to be around when I haven't had a smoke in a while...my twin sister tells me I'm a pure T bitch. With a capital "B." (And I am.) Y'all be praying for me...a couple of the lines of this poem jumped into my head while I was outside smoking after a hard day at work, thought it would be cute if I could work it out. Let me know what y'all think. 'Preciate all my friends at AD! (((HUGS))) Love, Karla.

Oh I think this is very cute. I quit only to start again when my life got stressful. I'm only smoking a couple of cigarettes a day, however, and I WILL stop as soon as my life settles back down. (You know it's bad when you can't even stand the smell of yourself!!)

Best wishes,
Scada

Ksrla. I smoked 30 years, one day took the carton put it in the freezer, and said I will not take another cigaret...son't ask me why the freezer, just wanted to know I had them...anyway I prayed my way through it and thank God every day that I did, and as Amor said it was the hardest thing at that time that I had ever done....Great writing...but...QUIT...!!!

Everyone and everything told me to quit...I didn't listen...even to those close to me. Then one day, I just got sick of the whole thing..the alienation, the smells, the little burns, the costs, the potential long term effects, the theft of my time. I went out and bought those expensive patches and decided to just do it. I stopped. It was the hardest thing in my life I have ever done. I almost wish I were hooked on heroine instead..it would have been easier to quit that and society would have had a little more understanding. But I was determined to do it because I hated how it held onto me so much. I hope someday you can do it too. God give you that strength.

Very interesting. All true and makes me think about what is happening to the body when smoking. I am a smoker and have to quit soon, but enjoy it too much. Our 25 pack of cigs cost 10.00 dollars. I don't think anyone in the world has to pay as much as British Columbia and Alberta.
