Watching 'World Trade Center' inspired this. May we never forget.

...how sad!  we've forgotten:  each passing
anniversary, we've drawn farther
and farther apart, until you are
only a faded photograph in
the mind, a memory dimmed over
time, a listed name read one day a
year:  we've  aged, yet you remain the same
as the last time we saw each other:
that's the real tragedy in all this:
remembering, only to forget.

(c) 2007, Karla Dorman (2/7)

You are a loving and compassionate lady, dear Karla. Through your words and the words of other writers, we shall never forget! Excellent remembrance.

A timely reminder, dear Karla.

And may I suggest that akin to this is the tragedy of many marriages when a partner remembers the other, only to forget to whisper daily words of endearing affection. What once was precious has become desensitized with the commonplace habit of taking love and your lover for granted. Shame on us.

Valentine's Day should be everyday!
Your children will admire you, mimic you and love you for it.
Peace and love,
Richard

I wonder how many people deeply remember their shock when watching those planes going into the WTC, the smoke and flames, the specks which were people jumping, the terrible sight of the buildings going down in great clouds of smoke and dust, and the great skeletons of structure which afterwards marked that site. One day per year, we remember, and the memory does grow dimmer each year. One thing I will never forget is that short span of time when EVERYBODY's car sported an American flag! Really good poem, Karla. Indeed.

That is life, Karla. We tend to forget or appreciate less as time goes by. Which is a pity. Victor

A compassionate write my friend...one that touches my heart deeply...I don't remember Karla if you read my poem...The Vision, it is based on a dream that I had a few nights before the 9-11 tragedy...this was such a sad and tragic event but one that I will never forget as many others! Great write and tribute!

I hear compassion in your voice, Karla, but take comfort, loved ones gone are never forgotten. They live on in memories of their families and friends. What happened at the World Trade Center will also not be forgotten...the pain will dull, that is normal. Great poem!

God Bless
Much love
Lena

Excellent juxtapose here, Karla. I am learning just how poignant painful anniversaries are... and yet, the sadness is that the time between them recurring seems to get shorter and shorter, testifying to how much we travel along regardless... Thank you for your constancy in bringing us to faithfulness. K xx

As with the holocaust, we mustn't forget, and your poem is a gentle reminder. Age does dim one's memory, but the heart never forgets the pain. Blessings to you.

True, yet like the world wars that devistated our land, we must move onwards and upwards making sure there is no reoccurance. We have to many of the buggers in my country wanting to blow us up....
