I got this icebox where my heart used to be
I got this icebox where my heart used to be
I'm so cold, I'm so cold, I'm so cold

--Ice Box (Omarion)

"Ain't What It Appears To Be"

The sun shines, but where
is its warmth?  The blue
skies are lying.  It
looks like Spring, but looks
can be deceiving,
especially
if you step outside --
reality slaps
you upside the face.

Ain't life exciting?
Even simple malaprops can leave us dazzled.

I like being teased. You do it well.

Another entertaining write, Karla. Tell it like it is! That's what I admire about your style. Soon, my friend, the hot weather will be here...sooooon! In the meantime, think warm! Works for me! :)

God Bless

You might not believe it, Karla, but here in Wisconsin the "Reality" is a minus ten!
No Spring in this state...for sure for sure.

Enjoyed your poem, and thanks for the comments on mine

I pictured a blue sky, lying in the sense of laying across a horizon...and the Son of God, crying out asking us "Where is our warmth?" So, in wanton of pleasing, we step out of our comfort zone and into reality of the situations of life as we see it...cold and harsh...and yeah, it slaps us in the face to want to change it, but...it hurts!
Amazing how you did this to me!
"Ain't What It Appears To Be", is a perfect title for this!
Enjoyed immensley!
Love and Peace~

Sounds like the makings of a good rock song Karla, like "Black Hole Sun".

When the sun turns cold
and the sky paints illusions
And everything you've ever known
Becomes something else.

You've piqued me imagination here Texas Gurl!

Karla, my dear. I would love to see this in a more experimental form. It would bring more power to the words and emotions.

Truth thaws the icicles and fresh water grows new roots come springtime, we be havin' a heap o' clover where the honey bees buzz anew without the staleness of winter's gossip. Love to you, Karla and Karen Lynn...Blessed Be...
