I AM OKAY. This just came to mind after an(other) argument with Karen ... a lot of upheavals lately. Keep us in your prayers. Tired ...
i know no.thing. really thought
i knew the meaning of what it
was like to struggle up the
mountain: mine did not raise
up only to throw me down,
pinning me under the weight
of the world. been days. weeks.
no, the pressure's been building
along (my) fault line for years. it
had to let go, eventually. and then,
it snapped, with little warning. it
was the beginning of sorrow, of
blame. everyone else was
responsible for my failure; it could
not have happened to me. not me.
and now i'm trapped in the rubble
of monotony. grown too comfortable
in the mud that has hardened around
my legs like concrete, turning my legs
to complacent roots. in order to save
my life, radical action must be taken:
amputation: one from myself. no time
to administer a painkiller. it will be
messy. it will hurt. two choices: live,
or die as miserable as i am now ...
I was thinking along these same lines this morning...resolution, one way or another... I love, love, love the second to the last stanza! It offers such superb visuals!
Your poem is filled with such anguish ! Its hard to rise above it all, but some how you must go on. You still have much to give the world, so keep writing and sharing! .......M
I'm reminded of a bridge verse from Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car":
"You got a fast car,
but is it fast enough so we can fly?
We gotta make a decision...
leave tonight or live and die this way."
I don't think I've seen such profound introspection from you, but you're spot on: you have decisions to make. I pray for their success, whatever they happen to be.
My life, I looked around, what I saw was so profound. Misery had drug me down. And with the strength of my inner clown. A smile beaming wide from my soul, shattered the glass door of my inner Hell. I walked with head high and spirit anew. To make peace with my life, myself, my God and my friends, the precious few. Your poem is sending out a message for help. May God bless. May you find the smile and peace that will release you from your time of woe. JMW
Karla, wow, this voice of yours is heard loud and clear. The images & the metaphors are excellent. The honesty of this hurts the soul and causes this one to want to soothe your pain. Life can often bring us down to the pits of hell and regardless how hard we try nothing seems to bring us back to the top of the mountain. Karla, my prayers are with you & yours and a pray a ray of sunshine will bring light to your darkest hour. God Bless.
This one demands multiple read-throughs. It is powerful with imagery. I absolutely love the entire ending, the radical action of amputation -- quick, but violently painful and so vital to survive.
Outstanding composition on ontologic and emotional experiences of life and living; pleasure and pain. Subjects dealt and depicted clearly. "Make It Quick" is masterpiece.
My heart goes out to both you and your sister for when siblings share angry words nobody wins. I hope you find an easier and more pleasant understanding of your hurting.

I know that I have no right to express it but, believe it or not, I do feel what you are feeling, Karla. I wish I could fix it. I send you my positive energy and love,
Felt so much pain in this beautiful but sad write. I wish for you to heal and find so much happiness that it shines all over the world. No one deserves it more. Love and hugs, Bonnie
A lot of pain, frustration here. I hate that you're struggling; I wish it would get better for the two of us. EXCELLENT, emotion-filled piece; very well penned! BRAVA!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :(
Sometimes life is like treading in heavy mud, getting angry doesn't help but use more energy needed to get the hell out of there, in one insist on getting more angry, then we go into the quicksands and then we will never survive another step.
Karla, your poem is heavy with frustration and despair, but you've experienced it before and know that "this, too, shall pass". Stay strong, and my prayers are with you.
There's strength in numbers and two is always better than one. Love ties you two together. A bond that can never be broken. Hang in there friend. Love, Peace, Prayers and Blessings Always, Paul.
Karla you have surely conveyed your condition with superb metaphor and brutal honesty! My thoughts and prayers are with you and Karen!
I know you will soon recover!
A deafening thought and feeling...is this true or what?
Spooky, thought provoking and utterly emotinal.
Sorry that you and sis are bickering amongst yourselves, praying things will come to a speedy conclusions.
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
My book of poetry is being redone by me, I have a beautiful cover designed and the book will have a few more than 200 poems in it. I am going to have it printed on demand here in Canada. When it is done I will let you know when it is done and if anyo
