... Black Friday should be called Black and
Blue, because that's what it's become. The
news just keeps getting worse, reading of a
Wal Mart employee dying due to trampling,
two other grown men acting like spoiled
brats shoot and kill each other in a ToysRUs.
Doesn't count how many legs run into with
shopping carts, how many shoved, or how
many screamed at. Twin sister and I saw a
fistfight this morning, at our local Wal Mart,
over sheets. SHEETS!! (Might be asking,
what were we doing out? No money until
last night, getting food, some of which was
taken out of our basket: guess they needed
it more.) Three years ago: we saw two men
fighting over a boxed TV: "Mine!" "No, it's
MINE!!" No one's, except floor's: box
broke, TV shattered in the middle. Holidays
are for Grinches, anymore ... greed taking
over common sense. Take the first part of
Christmas out and there you have it: it's no
wonder. Teach your children, well: apathy
and gotta-have-it-price-be-damned, instead
of the Real Reason's left me black and blue ...
So very sad Karla when they forget what Christmas is really about. We are talking about adults who are suppose to teach the children about love and respect. This would never happen here in Canada. First sign of trouble and out you go. Of course you are thrown in jail if you're caught with a gun too. Different laws. Thank you for sharing.
Buy! Buy! Buy! even if you aren't financial soluble, because we need to give a big push to the economy. Then, why are WE the ones to do it everytime those finance-mavericks joggle the money to kingdom come and need to bail-out? Cannot they take some of that money in Bahamas or Cayman Islands and bail out themselves?
trampled by a herd of humans...felt sad reading about it yesterday - but 'grown men' shooting each other in ToysRUs, well, that made me laugh! I know it shouldn't, but it is too ridiculous! Obsurdly shocking :( Later, i obviously need to listen to Louis A's Oh What a Wonderful World, to check on my faith in human nature - its not looking good presently. Good social commentary Karla, ('Holidays are for Grinches, anymore...' What are Grinches?! I didn't understand that part! i will investigate!:o)xx
gosh,,it is really pathetic how people act over materialistic things...for what??? why??? My heart and prayers go out to the family whom have been pained by such a tragic and senseless loss.
May God comfort them.
Karla, I was going to write about the Long Island Walmart incident, too, I was so disgusted-and to think, for a holiday based on Christ, makes me LIVID. Thanks for drawing attention to these people.

Do we forget so quickly about the 700 billion dollar plus bailout for those who make money on folks who are too lame to realize the essence of the game? GREED for the rich....and PAIN for the slaving poor.
I think the United States of America needs a revolution against corporate America especially at Christmas. My gifts this year will be cards and hugs. Nobody stomps people to death over those. bless you and stay safe. God bless you and Karen SUPER good because the holidays are for crazed people...even families are nuts over things that should not split them up.
Going to Walmart now to get something I need....BOTTLED WATER!

I heard about the Wally mart thing, but didn't know about the toys r us thing...man I am glad i don't go shopping till the night before xmas and usually at a 7-11 or like that, or if I feel really magnanimous, I might even shop at a local drug store...LOL, Ed
I think they ought to outlaw "After-Thanksgiving" sales, or better yet, get back to the Real Reason of the Season, like you said: "take the first part of Christmas out, and there you have it." No wonder. Sad! And that poor man's family: what should be a time of joy will now be a time of sadness, and for WHAT?? A tv?? A camera? That hot toy?? SHEETS??? NUTS!! Painfully penned sadness; powerfully penned!
