you've heard the
expression
"pulling one's hair out"
well i do that
pull my hair out
not all at once
not all the time
just when i'm real stressed
and i've been real stressed
lately
have the bald spots
on top of my head
to prove it
it's called
trichotillomania
a psychological disorder
it's an inibility
to resist
touching
patting
twisting
pulling
one's hair out
it's a release
of tension
expressed in
hair pulling
no one knows what causes it
some people only pull
their eyelashes
eyebrows
or they can pull out
all the hair
all over their body
thank God mine's not that severe
just the hair on
top of my head
painful? yes
embarrassing? yes
annoying? yes
but i don't know how to stop

That is a problem. I can understand. You have to find the root first before getting over it. surely it is stress-related, but that can't be all. think about. There must be something in your life you have to change to get better. And once you have managed this you have to keep your hands busy - how about smoking? That is what I do. Okay, just joking. But look for the main reasons. There must be something that bothers you. Get back to me if you need to talk. Lots of love. S.
You will get over it, because you know thats its an unhealthy problem, and I know you care about many things....but you must care first about yourself. Nobody else will....I knew a woman who had that problem, it stemed from her childhood, her father was A HORROR...and she kept it up thru adulthood, she was a successful woman, a fashion designer in NYC, and I worked for her father...he was a PHuck!!! You will be fine, because you are a good person....!
I'll say a prayer for ya!

Courageous! {Who doesn't feel like tearing out their hair these days? Trichotillomania is a lot more common than most people think. If the poem is autobiographical -- and I gather it is --, hope you're under treatment, hon' Drugs for OCD help, I understand. XOXO Pea XOXO
Awww Karla, I'm so sorry to read about this.. Isn't there a cure for this? I had a girl in my class 3 years ago who did this constantly..but we never knew why. Thank you for this bit of info.

Great informative write on such a troubling obsession. It would be too easy for me to say than for one to do if I were to ask that you avoid stress. I know the effects of stress and how they tear us and fracture us little by little. Hope that you find a way to avoid it and be conscious of it for every little bit helps.
