Somewhere deep inside
me, there is a well;
a secret place in

my soul. In that well
are words, bubbling like
a brook. My Muse lives

there, tending the words,
watching the words rise
to the surface. She

gently plucks some out
and attaches them
to strings, where they rise,

like balloons, to my
head. From my head, they
float down my arms and

into my hands; my
hands fashion the
words she's given me

into a poem,
which is my Gift to
you, Gentle Reader.

... and my hand closes over strings of pearls,
feeling their smooth, satin intimacy.
My eyes drink in the deep lustre of openness,
and see into the shimmering depths of anothers soul,
as my heart counts this rosery of words.

(not a quote but a spontaneous response).

Thankyou for the gift.

DJ.

Lovely write! My muse is not so gentle...she gathers words, phrases and images, putting them in a five pound bag...when it is full, she slaps me upside the head with it.
