it OUTTA be a crime
'cause it happens every time
when my paycheck gets here
the bills come first, i fear

my paychecks do not last
they go faster 'n' fast
there is never enough
to pay them--and it's rough

nothin left o'er--oh, well
let's see...what can i sell
gotta pay 'em right NOW
they don't care when or how

gotta eat to survive
too bad: 'cause bills arrived
can't afford to get sick
insurance? no?? (poor chick)

i do not own a car
don't live/work very far
no fancy clothes have i
i can't afford to buy

governments--do they care?
their money goes elsewhere
'cept for where it's needed
the poor get stampeded

there's homeless on the streets
some can't afford to eat
the disabled get screwed
they cut this program, too

they don't give a rat's a**
you are treated like trash
here...in the u.s.a.
the rich have all the say

and do they care? hell, no
stars...athletes...big egos
i am the working poor
fighting an unending war

we're sending money to other nations,
and we can't take care of our own
people here at home...honest, hard-
working men and women, who are try-
ing to survive a slumping economy...
