life ain't no
crystal stair
it's not bad
could be worse
but my steps
are worn
weatherbeaten
tread's wearin thin
bare wood's showin
you hear creakin
there's some splinters
gettin somewhat shaky

through
the trials of life
no matter what
life's storms bring
what rain and wind
life throws at me
there i stand
dependable
maybe not as strong
as i once was
but there i am
still standin

like
weatherbeaten stairs
i'm gettin tired
i need a new lease on life...
and i wonder...
how much
longer
can i hold out????

That border between wondering and giving up is poignantly depicted here, my friend... but hold out. I did... and Love, Light and Harmony came in.
