It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear (Revised, Repost)

Dedicated with love to those whose
family members won't be joining them
this Thanksgiving. ALWAYS REMEMBER
AND NEVER FORGET.

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
I think about what's happened in the past years
As I sit here, in our lonely apartment
I'm overwhelmed by feelings of sentiment

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
I've never felt so alone, without you here
You were taken from me that September day
And the feelings of sadness won't go away

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
When I least expect it, I break down in tears
Memories of you...us...overtake my mind
Memories...that's all I have...of us rewind

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
Sometimes I see your face, hear your voice so clear
Am I going crazy?  What is WRONG with me??
Why wasn't it ME under all that debris?

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
It's the third Thanksgiving Day without you near
I'm angry, I'm sad...confused feelings still throb
Why were YOU taken from me, why my life robbed?

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
And I don't feel like celebrating, I fear
The sadness lingers, it doesn't go away
Without you here, why celebrate holidays?

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
And I sit here...alone...the sadness still sears
How I miss you...my tears are falling like snow
My heart breaks, it still lies in pieces, you know

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
In my memories, in my dreams, you appear
They tell me to get on with my life--yeah, right
I can't...I think about you each day and night

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
My world devastated when you disappeared
God, I'd give anything to have you with me
But it can't be...but can't face reality

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear
It is just another day, without you here
Think I'll just go to bed...cry myself to sleep
Remember you, then grab the pillow, and weep

It's Thanksgiving Day, Dear...

Karla: This is so beautiful. In my case I remember loved ones lost on September 11, 2001, but also loved ones lost on April 19, 1995 in the Oklahoma City bombing, as I lived in Oklahoma for many years.
Thanks for sharing this, and Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless You.
Love, Susan
