Was yellow, green and brown

It boasted only four framed windows

But each went easily up and down.

Only two people could fit in it

If they were chin to chin!

So many acorns always fell

The squirrels all made it a joke.

Needed two coats of paint

Every time the owner noticed

She said she felt quite faint.

Stood far from the prairie

There was, however, a river nearby

In which flowed water to carry.

Had such a tiny bathroom

That whenever a person had to go

They’d first have to take out the broom.

Looked pretty in the moonlight

Many creatures would gather to exclaim:

“Too bad such a house has no name!”

Was home to several boys

One game after the other they played

And made a joyful noise.

Was surrounded by red roses

When one of the boys trampled one

The owner would yell “Holy Moses!”

Braved strong winds and rain

First it lost a roof tile,

Then a window pane.

A lark looked in the window

Of the little house in the woods

The boys were jumping on the bed

Some had brown hair, some had red.

Front door was painted blue

The same blue as the sky

But please don't ask me why!

A gecko clung to the porch post

Of the little house in the woods

Its green little body had 4 wee feet

And after much climbing, the creature

was beat.

Red roses climb the little house walls

Some on the southside, some on the north

Others to the east, a few to the west

It's the last that seem to thrive the best.

The owner died
