Love & Pie

There is always one question
One which weighs so heavily
Upon a fragile heart
Why is there always doubt?
Misunderstandings abound
Plaguing relationships for a millennia
Only to tear down the strongest
Of foundations!
I have always felt that love
Was much more than complacency
The ideal of keeping romance
Truly alive, repairing constantly
Yet, in my short life
All this has been thrown back at me!
Smeared across my face
With that proverbial pie
As love withers and dies
Right before my very eyes.
